Stevie Nicks had a steely response to Katy Perry when the Teenage Dream hitmaker asked who her ‘rivals’ are.
The music icon, 76, who has sold more 120million records worldwide as part of the legendary Fleetwood Mac, recalled a frosty chat she had with Teenage Dream star Perry, 39, a decade ago.
Recalling the chat to Rolling Stone, she said: ‘Katy Perry was talking to me about the internet armies of all the girl singers, and how cruel and rancid they were.
‘I said, “Well, I wouldn’t know because I’m not on the internet.” She said, “So, who are your rivals?” I just looked at her. It was my steely look.
‘I said, “Katy, I don’t have rivals. I have friends. All the other women singers that I know are friends. Nobody’s competing. Get off the internet and you won’t have rivals either.”’

Nicks and Perry famously posed up together at the 2014 Grammys.
Perry famously feuded with Taylor Swift for years – with the drama starting over a reported falling out over backup dancers who left Swift’s tour to join Perry’s Prismatic World Tour.
Soon after, Swift released the brutal diss track Bad Blood, which she confirmed to Rolling Stone was aimed at another famous female singer who ‘did something so horrible’ to her.
Swift also declared that she and the unnamed singer — who many assumed to be Perry — were ‘straight-up enemies.’
As Bad Blood dominated the airwaves, Perry appeared to accuse Swift of ‘[capitalizing] on the take down of a woman’ in an infamous 2015 tweet.
In 2017, Perry appeared to respond to Bad Blood with her own diss track Swish Swish which featured Nicki Minaj, who also had beef with Swift.
But after years of tension that played out in interview bits and indirect tweets, Perry made the first move in mending their friendship in 2018.
She did so by sending Swift an actual olive branch in 2018 on the opening night of her Reputation Tour.

Swift and Nicks’s friendship began after they performed a duet at the 52nd Grammy Awards together in 2010
A year later, the duo publicly buried the hatchet by starring alongside one another in Swift’s You Need To Calm Down music video, which saw them dressed as a hamburger and fries.
Since then, the duo have supported one another publicly, with Perry attending one of Swift’s Eras Tour shows earlier this year and Swift cheering Perry on at the VMAs when she received the Video Vanguard Award.
Swift and Nicks’s friendship first began after they performed a duet at the 52nd Grammy Awards together back in 2010.
Swift, who name dropped Nicks on her 2024 track, Clara Bow, off The Tortured Poets Department, previously revealed that she considers the icon her ‘hero’ and someone she ‘can tell any secret.’
