A new bride has revealed her bold makeup-free wedding look which left many viewers shocked.
Calynn Chapman, from Nashville, Tennessee, shared a TikTok of herself moments before walking down the aisle in January.
The 25-year-old stood in a bathroom in her white gown and veil with long brown curled hair and no makeup in sight.
‘Eight minutes until I walk down the aisle,’ the bride said with a big smile on her face.
‘Hiding in the bathroom,’ she said with a laugh.
The text over her video read: ‘Fun fact: I wore no makeup on our wedding day.’
She said in her caption that the decision to go makeup-free was something she went ‘back and forth on during the entire engagement.’
‘I never wear makeup, but it was my wedding! But at the end of the day, I decided against it and I felt the most beautiful I ever have just being naturally me,’ she added.

Her video quickly went viral – amassing 27.3 million views and more than 3.5 million likes.
In a follow-up video, Calynn said she was raised in a church that didn’t allow makeup.
‘I didn’t learn or get into it because I simply wasn’t allowed to wear it,’ she shared.
She also chose to go with a simpler look to save money on her wedding.
The average price for bridal hair and makeup in 2025 is a whopping $290 in the US, per The Knot.
‘I didn’t want to spend that money and potentially not like it,’ she said.
‘I decided I was going to go natural,’ she shared before adding that her husband is ‘used to seeing her that way.’
Her video received over 33,000 comments with some critics slamming her bare-faced look.

‘You coulda used a little lip gloss but okay,’ another shared.
A third user said: ‘One thing about girls who don’t wear makeup… they will always tell you they’re not wearing makeup… Like yes sweetie we can tell.’
Calynn has since made a statement to Newsweek after reading all the negative comments about her choice.
‘People assumed that I was hating on girls who decide to wear makeup or that I thought I was better than them by not wearing makeup,’ she said.
‘That was not the case at all. I’ve watched so many bridal makeup videos and they are so gorgeous. I just wanted to share my experience.’
Despite the nasty comments about her wedding appearance, there were also countless comments that supported and praised her look.
‘Everybody’s out here talking about what she should have done, but the facts are— face? Tea. Body? Tea. Husband? Secured and head over heels in love with her,’ a user wrote.
‘This is such a flex. I’m so happy for you girl,’ another shared.
‘The hate is so forced. She looks beautiful,’ someone wrote.
‘Going bareface at your wedding is so chic, [I don’t care],’ a user commented.
‘Why is everybody nitpicking? She looks beautiful & mind you this was HER wedding,’ another added.
One person commented: ‘I read her caption and thought ‘I love this.’ [I] was extremely disappointed by the comments.
Calynn responded by saying: ‘I think most people didn’t read my caption. It was definitely a difficult decision! But I don’t regret it at all and I just wanted other girls who may not be big makeup girlies to know its okay if they choose to not wear makeup on their big day too.’
