On Friday, February 1, footwear brand Chinese Laundry released a new line of shoes designed for the modern woman called 42Gold.
For the debut collection, the label tapped fashion influencer and actress Jamie Chung, 35, to be the face of the launch and curate styles made for an on-the-go lifestyle.
‘What I love most about the line is that it’s versatile,’ Jamie told FEMAIL. ‘It’s a foundation of staple styles that you can wear for the long-term. They are something you want to keep in your closet that will live out fast trends.’

The face: For the debut collection, the label tapped fashion influencer and actress Jamie Chung to be the face of the launch and curate styles made for an on-the-go lifestyle
The former reality star is the perfect model for the brand, as she’s not afraid to take fashion risks and values comfort that can keep up with her busy schedule.
‘This line is subtle. The pastel hues add a bit of a pop, or blend in perfectly with your everyday wear, and that’s what it’s meant to do.’
Designed with versatility in mind, the line is comprised of on-trend mules, booties, and espadrilles that transition easily from day to night and that are comfortable.
Jamie describes the 42Gold customer as ‘a boss lady that works during the day, is in and out of meetings, running errands, picking up her babies or fur babies, and heading home for a quick change before heading out for the evening.’

‘I think shoes can help strengthen a look by bringing your outfit together,’ she said. ‘It’s the icing on the cake, unless if they happen to be bright red over-the-knee statement making boots.’
To feel sexy, Jamie slips into something that is chic but comfortable. ‘Something that gives me a bit more height, like our Liya Vinyl.’
She sees texture as being a big trend in footwear.
‘Whether its mesh, fun embroidery or clear re-purposed plastic, designers are having fun with textures, while keeping the silhouette of the shoe more classic.’
From her curation, Jamie is most excited about the ‘Overcome Kid’ in suede and in the snake print. ‘The snake print is on trend but the style of the shoe is modern and something I can see living in my closet permanently.’
She reveals that the ‘Castle Kid’ fit her like a glove and that she can actually run in them. ‘The entire collection was designed with a busy person in mind. I have to say, even our highest heeled shoe, Linx, is pretty damn comfortable.’
The 48 piece 42Gold collection ranges in price from $79-$200.
