Australian comedian Tommy Little has been slammed for insulting a state’s unofficial national food by comparing it to male genitals and foul-smelling socks.
The former The Project host recently travelled to Tasmania and tried a scallop pie – a popular dish that draws in hundreds of tourists every year.
Scallop pies consist of tender scallops, vegetables, and a creamy curry sauce wrapped in crumbly butter pastry.
‘I love you Tassie but I’ll never understand the scallop pie,’ Mr Little said on Instagram.
‘They taste like someone has left a ballsack in a dirty sock and then hidden it in some pastry. Is there something I’m missing? Was adding sauce my problem? Help me understand.’
The radio host shared a photo of him and a scallop pie drizzled in tomato sauce.
Mr Little couldn’t have been more dissatisfied with his meal and asked his 307,000 followers what he did wrong. And it seems adding sauce was his first mistake.
Australian cook and MasterChef star Julie Goodwin was against his decision to add ketchup.
‘I love scallop pies but I don’t put sauce on them,’ she wrote.

Many Tasmanians flooded Mr Little’s comments in defence of the pie.
‘Grow up and stop putting sauce on everything,’ one said.
‘Now I’m craving a ballsack in a dirty sock. Thanks a lot!’ another joked.
‘Oh my god, I love them! Don’t put sauce on it,’ a woman advised.
‘No to the sauce, it’s definitely an acquired taste,’ one allowed.
‘You really have to lean into curry powder to love them,’ a commenter said.
But many found the pie equally ‘disgusting’.
‘I’m from Tassie but living on the mainland and I can’t stand them. Hard pass. Stick with the traditional meat pie or the sausage roll from Banjos. Can’t go wrong,’ a man said, referencing a local Tasmania bakery.
Another added, ‘My stomach was so upset after having it. Scallop pies are revolting.’
