Australians were shocked and outraged after spotting packets of Tim Tams on shelves for $6.
The price of the popular Arnott’s biscuit left hundreds gobsmacked with some deeming the high cost as ‘un-Australian’.
While most expect premium prices at petrol stations, many were agitated to discover the price is the ‘new normal’ at leading supermarkets Coles and Woolworths.
An image was shared on Reddit to alert others about the price hike.
‘I remember when a double pack used to only be about $4.50,’ the Redditor captioned the post.
The price left customers questioning if they’ll ever see low prices at major retailers again.
‘That’s just un-Australian,’ one declared.
‘I saw that yesterday too at Woolworths and I was thinking are they crazy?’ another said.

The price of Arnott’s Original Tim Tams have increased to $6 at major Australian supermarkets, leaving shoppers outraged
‘Try being gluten free. They’re more expensive and you only get seven in a pack!’ a third added.
‘This country is f***ed,’ someone else wrote.
‘Literal petrol station prices,’ one more added.
Another said: ‘I remember when Tim tams were $2.50.’
An Arnott’s spokesperson told FEMAIL the price of input costs has increased, resulting in the price hike.
‘Like most Australian manufacturers, we are experiencing a significant increase in our input costs, including the surging price of cocoa. This has led us to make the difficult decision to increase the price of our Tim Tam biscuits,’ the spokesperson said.
‘We continue to invest in promotional programs with our retailers year-round, to ensure consumers can buy our products at great value prices.
‘The changes are necessary for Arnott’s to remain competitive as an Australian manufacturer and to continue to make the delicious products Australians know and love.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Coles and Woolworths for a comment.
Earlier this year a packet of Tim Tams cost a staggering $11.70 at a petrol station in Kalumburu in far north Western Australia.
