A top DJ has been found dead at the age of 44 under ‘mysterious circumstances’ prompting police to launch an investigation.
The body of Polish musician Michal Orzechowski, better known as DJ Hazel, was discovered in a car parked near Skepe, Lipno County, Poland.
His body was found on May 7, and the unclear circumstances surrounding his death have caused police to look further into the incident, according to reports from Polish outlet TVP3 Bydgoszcz.
Malgorzata Malkinska, a police spokeswoman in Lipno, confirmed when his body was discovered and that authorities are attempting to fully understand the situation, as per the Pinnacle Gazette.
Following the sudden death, tributes have begun pouring in for the DJ, with fans and friends paying tribute to the late artist on social media.
Polish DJ Pawbeats said on Facebook in polish: ‘DJ Hazel is dead, I can’t believe it.
‘Michał was one of the first who wasn’t afraid of totally ‘unacceptable’ combinations for those times, like playing ‘Weź piórkę’ with Pawbeats Orchestra at Przystanek Woodstock.
‘Thank you for the most famous bubble in Poland, for those 15 bubbles, for being a total dude with an inimitable distance and a mine of anecdotes at every meeting in Bydgoszcz (and not only). My heart breaks.’

DJ Hazel was a prominent figure in the electronic music scene, having launched his career back in 1998.
He earned the title of European Vice-Champion at the European DJ Championships held in Germany, which solidified his status as one of the leading DJs in the country.
In addition to his musical talents, DJ Hazel was also an entrepreneur.
He was the owner of the Mihałufka inn in Skępe and co-owner of the Explosion club in Borkowo Kościelne, which opened in 2014.
DJ Hazel was scheduled to be one of the stars at this year’s student festival – Juwenalia of the Piotrkow Academy, set to take place on May 15 and 16, 2025.
