- Luke Keary has unloaded in stunning outburst
- Ex-Roosters pivot labelled some games ‘unwatchable’
Former Roosters star Luke Keary has trashed the ‘horrendous’ Super League competition, declaring a number of club bosses are ‘on their knees begging’ for the NRL to come to their rescue.
Keary, 33, is a marquee player at the Catalans Dragons – and his savage comments would have enraged his bosses in France.
In an extraordinary rant, the NRL premiership winner with the Rabbitohs and Tricolours stated interest in the Super League is at an all-time low.
It comes as the NRL are reportedly considering purchasing a 33 per cent stake in the struggling competition.
‘If the NRL don’t buy it, they are in a lot of trouble….all the players are open to it,’ he told Wide World of Sports.
‘I’ll go on the record saying (the Super League) is in such a bad way, the game is horrendous over here.

In an extraordinary rant, the NRL premiership winner with the Rabbitohs and Tricolours stated interest in the UK Super League is at an all-time low
‘It’s the product, the coverage, the news around the game, there is zero (interest).
‘Just the top teams have (strong) support and that is it.’
Keary wasn’t finished yet, labelling the game ‘unwatchable’ and that ‘I can’t follow it and I f—ing play in it.’
He also revealed the Super League lacks leaders in charge, unlike the NRL, who have ARLC chairman Peter V’landys and CEO Andrew Abdo running the show.
‘I could not tell you one name of a person in charge over here,’ he said.
‘Literally wouldn’t have a clue who the CEO is or who’s making decisions or anything like that…..and its been like that for a long time.’
Meanwhile, Roosters supremo Nick Politis is said to be interested in assisting Salford, who are reportedly struggling financially.
The billionaire wants to rebrand the club the Manchester Roosters.
Politis has urged the NRL to get involved – and last year he launched the Los Angeles Roosters in a bid to assist the game’s push into the United States.
