Elisabeth Moss dropped jaws last month when she revealed a crewmember from The Handmaid’s Tale asked for a very personal item that was originally made just for her.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Moss, 42, revealed a production worker specifically asked for her character’s underwear.
The garment was custom made for Moss and at the time the actress was unaware of who made the bizarre request.
After her story went viral, the individual behind the request unveiled himself to Moss.
‘I think it’s so funny,’ Moss – who originally found the request odd – told People. ‘Also, I know who it is, but I need him to [reveal himself].’
She also clarified the person didn’t ‘specifically’ ask for the underwear and that the request ‘wasn’t exactly’ what they all initially thought it was.

Elisabeth Moss has now learned which crewmember asked for her custom-made underwear after various items from The Handmaid’s Tale were made up for grabs to crew and cast
‘It’s not bad. It’s not as bad as we thought it was,’ she insisted.
With the show entering it’s final season, various props and costumes from the show were made up for grabs to the cast and crew with the show.
A list of all the available items was sent around to executive producers – and Moss quickly made her interest known.
‘We had an email sent to all of the EPs that said, that was a full list of all the props and costumes that we could… take,’ she explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
‘In a very mature way I wrote back “dibs” and then proceeded to say everything I wanted,’ Moss – who plays June Osboune/Offred – said.
But someone had already asked for her character’s underwear.
‘And there was one thing I wanted, which was Offred’s underwear… that I wore. That was specially designed. And someone told me that someone already asked for it.’
A shocked Jimmy couldn’t believe what he was hearing and called the unknown crewmember a ‘creep.’
‘Wait a minute. This is your custom underwear that you wore and some creep on the staff requested it in writing, requested it!? Like I want Elisabeth’s underpants, I’m gonna take them home, I’m gonna put them in storage for a while!’
‘Hopefully!’ she replied, prompting Jimmy to say, ‘Best case scenario!’
Moss didn’t even want to know who was behind the request.

Moss has since learned who asked for the garment and clarified they didn’t specifically request it
‘I have to work with these people. I want to work with these people. I don’t want to know who wants my underwear!’
‘What kind of a crazy thing is that to say!’ Kimmel responded. ‘Oh my God, I hope it’s a woman!… Someone made a formal request for your underwear, like in writing, in an email that they shared with other people! We need to know who this person is!’
The sixth and final season of Handmaid’s Tale will debut on Hulu on April 8.
The show is based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel of the same name and is set in the theocratic Republic of Gilead where fertile women, called Handmaids, are forced to bear children for the ruling class, while the rest of society is stripped of its freedoms and rights.
June (Moss), is the Handmaid assigned to the home of the Gileadan Commander Fred Waterford and his cruel wife Serena (Yvonne Strahovski), key players in the formation and rise of Gilead.

The fifth season of the series introduced a twist where Serena, after being exiled, is forced to return to Gilead, further complicating her relationship with June.
Meanwhile, Moss recently confirmed she’d welcomed her first child.
She spilled the happy news last month during a red carpet interview at the 2025 PaleyFestLA for The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Emmy winner confirmed the birth of her first born earlier this week while telling PEOPLE about how she was able to bring her child to set with her.
She said she felt ‘so fortunate’ to have had that option as she filmed the final season of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale.

Moss added: ‘So many parents cannot. So that’s what we always say. Any of us who had the privilege of being able to bring our kids or see our kids at work, we would every single time be like, “Aren’t we lucky to get to do that?”‘
Prior to her recent admission, there had been no confirmation of when she gave birth – but Elisabeth did state that she was pregnant while appearing on Kimmel’s show back in January 2024.
As Elisabeth is private about her personal life, it is unknown who the father of the child is and when she gave birth.
