Zampolli was in attendance at their wedding and remained close to the First Couple through the years.
When Trump initially won in 2016, Zampolli threw a post inauguration bash tomorrow night to celebrate Melania’s ascent to first lady.
He also had to defend the first lady after the details of Mrs. Trump’s early paid modeling work in the US emerged in the final days of the bitter 2016 presidential campaign.
Zampolli said he recruited Melania to come to the US as a model, and said he did not recall Mrs. Trump working without legal permission.
He said that while he was a partner at modeling agency Metropolitan Models, he secured a work visa for Mrs. Trump, who in the mid-1990s was named Melania Knauss.
‘I know she was not working a paid job before she got the H-1B,’ Zampolli said, referring to the type of work visa that US companies can obtain for ‘fashion models of distinguished merit and ability.’
H-1B visas generally allow a person to work and live in the US for three years with the opportunity to renew the visas for another three years.
Zampolli said he based the H-1B application on Mrs. Trump’s previous modeling work in Paris and Milan.

Trump then announced that Dr. Anji Sinha will be the United States’ Ambassador to Singapore.
Earlier in the day, he confirmed that Michael George DeSombre will be the US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia and the Pacific.
