Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season by the team after a lingering knee injury has not improved.
Due to the knee injury, as well as a foot sprain, Embiid only played in 19 of the 76ers 58 games this season.
He last took the court for Philadelphia last Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets where Embiid showed discomfort in his knee, with the team ordering a scan for earlier this week.
The results have reportedly come back, needing to shelve the Team USA star for the rest of the season, per ESPN.
Embiid had been one of the NBA‘s most dominant players for several years prior to this season, including winning the league’s MVP award in 2022-23.
This was also the first year for Embiid to not be an All-Star since 2017.

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season
Embiid being ruled out for the rest of the season further puts a dent in Philadelphia’s playoff chances and finally winning a championship out of ‘The Process’.
The 76ers are currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, two spots out of the final spot in the Play-In Tournament.
At 20-38, Philadelphia is only 2.5 games back of the Chicago Bulls to play beyond 82 games this season. Without its biggest star, climbing up the standings just became that much more difficult.
The 76ers were looking to rebound from a first-round playoff exit last season by the New York Knicks.
