Al Roker‘s ex-wife Alice Bell has died at the age of 77, according to a heartbreaking post by their daughter.
Courtney Rocker Laga shared the news on Instagram on Monday, sharing images of Bell and writing: ‘She was my mother, my heart, and the most loving grandmother to Sky.
‘I was with her for her last breath, and I will carry her love with me always.’
Bell’s cause of death remains unclear, but she was seen hooked to an oxygen tube in a post Courtney shared in February.
The Today star, 70, and Bell were married from 1984 until 1994, and adopted 38-year-old Courtney in 1987.
The two met while they both worked at WNBC – she was a producer for ‘Live at Five’ and he was a weatherman, as reported by the Daily News.
The legendary weatherman missed Tuesday’s episode of Today following Bell’s death. Meteorologist Dylan Dreyer filled in for the star.
He has not yet commented publicly on Bell’s death.

Roker has been married to Deborah Roberts since 1995 and they share two children – Leila and Nicholas.
In 2022, Courtney shared a Mother’s Day post honoring both Bell and Deborah.
‘Happy Mother’s Day to the three most important women in my life,’ she wrote.
‘My mom Alice, my stepmother Deborah and my mother in law Barbara.’
Alice also had a son, Gregory, in 1970.
Roker and Bell became grandparents in 2023 when Courtney and her husband Wesley Laga welcomed their first baby, Sky.
Last year, the NBC star and Courtney published a cooking book together, titled ‘Al Rocker’s Recipes to Live By.’
Roker has recently opened up about battling a food addiction and how healthy habits helped him change his life.
Throughout his career, he has shared several health issues publicly, including in 2022 when he underwent a gastric bypass after his weight reached 340 pounds.

Roker also was off the air in 2020 for two weeks after he underwent successful surgery for prostate cancer.
He said he went public with his diagnosis to highlight the risk of prostate cancer, especially among Black men.
The weatherman also made a triumphant return to Today following two months off the air in 2023 after he was hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs and legs.
Roker had vanished from the morning show and later revealed on Instagram that his absence was the result of a blood clot diagnosis that ultimately saw him spend four weeks in the hospital, before returning to his New York home to continue his recovery.
At the time, the weatherman took to Instagram to share a health update with Today fans, explaining that he had been ‘admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs.’
‘After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery,’ he said. ‘Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and hope to see you soon.’
