Three people have been injured after an Air Busan plane caught fire today at Gimhae International Airport in Busan South Korea.
According Yonhap news agency, all 169 passengers and seven crew members onboard the Hong Kong-bound flight were evacuated on an inflatable slide.
Though there were no injuries reported at first, fire services later confirmed that three passengers had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services said that the fire erupted in the plane’s tail at around 10:26pm local time just moments before take off and quickly spread to the fuselage of the aircraft.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10.34pm.
While emergency services believe all 176 onboard the craft were rescued, they are still searching inside the plane ‘just in case’, Yonhap reported.
Dramatic footage shows smoke billowing out from plane as passengers are seen exiting the aircraft.
Other videos show the plane completely engulfed by flames.
The inferno comes a month after South Korea’s deadliest air disaster, when a Jeju Air plane coming back from Bangkok crashed on MuanAirport’s runway as it made an emergency belly landing, killing all but two of the 181 people and crew members on board.
