Cherry Healey has revealed that a man tried to force his way into her car in the middle of the day, as she admitted she is scared that threats to women’s safety are ‘getting worse’.
The TV presenter, 44, took to her Instagram to share details of the terrifying ordeal and ask her followers if they also felt there had been a rise in cat-calling and ‘aggressive approaches’.
Filming a video from her car after the incident, she explained she had been hesitant to share her story as she didn’t want to be ‘seen as a fear monger’.
However, Cherry explained she felt it was important to show others who had been victims of similar attacks that they are not alone or to blame.
The Inside The Factory host began: ‘I questioned whether or not to share this, but I often don’t, for rightly or wrongly.
‘But I think sometimes it’s important to share things like this so that if it happens to someone else, they don’t think they’re alone.’

Detailing the scary incident, she recalled: ‘I just dropped my friend off at the tube station, I could see she’d gone out. She’d got to the side of the road. It was all fine.
‘A guy approached my car door, and luckily I’d just central locked the car really quickly, and he started to try and get into the car. I was like, “No go away!”‘
Cherry continued: ‘I’m sharing this particularly because it’s in the middle of the day, broad daylight. No I’m not wearing a provocative outfit, no I didn’t do anything to provoke the situation.
‘Sometimes you hear people saying, you know, what was she wearing? You know, was she out and about, had she had a few drinks? Was she walking through the park late at night?
‘If someone attacks you, it is not your fault. It’s nothing to do with you. I was in my car, middle of the day.’
Addressing her followers, she asked: ‘In fact, can I ask you, do you feel like it’s getting worse at the moment? If so, do you have any hypothesis as to why this is happening?
‘I feel like there’s more shouting, more cat calls, more attempts to kind of approach in an aggressive way.’
Cherry confessed she had become too scared to even go running at night, saying: ‘I would not go for a run after the sun went down for all of the money in the world right now.’
